Heartwood

Heartwood, Fairmount's special care residence for persons with memory loss, is designed to serve the needs of residents at risk for exiting the facility or with dementia. Heartwood's physical design and the emotional support provided by staff create an environment of comfort, nurture and security. Staff preserve resident dignity by working with each individual at his/her own cognitive level.

On October 19, 2010, the Heartwood Neighborhood was relocated to the new wing on second floor. The neighborhood is complete with a country kitchen, sunroom, and beautiful spa.  The décor was carefully selected to promote a serene atmosphere for residents who at times can become overwhelmed by noise, bright colors or lighting, and other stimuli.

Heartwood team members spent time in orientation and training specifically for this neighborhood,  learning more about caring for individuals with cognitive impairments.

For residents who need the comfort of a secure environment, Fairmount's Heartwood residence is truly a haven.
