A tax update seminar, “How Does the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act Affect You?” is planned for 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 24, at Fairmount in Ephrata. The speakers will be Joyce Martin, EA, and Chris Frye, of Covenant CPA LLC. The seminar will be held in the Crest View Gathering Room at 1100 Farm Crest Drive on the east side of the Fairmount campus, and the public is cordially invited to attend. An Enrolled Agent with more than 25 years of tax experience, Joyce Martin joined Covenant CPA LLC in 2012. Joyce is responsible for tax planning and preparation for personal, farm, and business returns, as well as QuickBooks support. Joyce’s niche expertise lays in notice resolution with all government agencies, including the IRS, the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue, and other local agencies. She has earned an Associate degree in Business at Harrisburg Area Community College, and is a Certified QuickBooks ProAdvisor, as well as a Notary Public. Joyce is a member of the National Association of Tax Professionals, the National Notary Association, and the Board Vice-President of Crossfire.

Chris Frye is a recent graduate of Millersville University, where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Accounting. During his first year at Covenant CPA LLC, Chris quickly became a Certified QuickBooks ProAdvisor and go-to guide for assistance in topics ranging from workflow to inventory. Chris has spent the summer advancing his knowledge of how the changes in tax law will affect small businesses, estate planning, and individuals. Chris and Joyce are energized to inform the public about how their 2018 tax returns will be affected by the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act.

Topics of discussion will include Tax Brackets, Capital Gains, Retirement Planning, Tax Credits, Gifting, Itemized Deductions, and Changes in PA tax filing. Time will be allotted for questions and discussion as well.
